Palestinian Spousal Abuse - It's The Jews' Fault

As if a stroll through QUIT's website isn't enough to make one question the twisted logic of the "Palestinian" Arab apologists, I found the following quote in an article linked to Professor Deborah A. Gordon's website. Of course, you all remember Doc Gordon as the wise and learned one who claimed that "Palestine was a country"?

Challenges to patriarchal norms, within the context of conflict and militarization, are often answered with threats of violence and in worst cases, murder. Women are invariably most vulnerable. In the Occupied Palestinian Territories (OPT), the increase of violent measures against the Palestinians by the Israeli Occupying Forces has not been matched by any increased accountability to international human rights and humanitarian law. This lack of accountability and justice seeps into the consciousness of Palestinian society where some Palestinian men transfer this entitlement to commit violence to their own families in order to reassert their authority and power. These men--no longer able to find or even reach employment because of the restrictions of movement, no longer able to even feed their own families--are forced to swallow their dignity and accept help from foreign development agencies and humanitarian aid agencies. Their use of violence becomes a coping mechanism that addresses their own inabilities to perform their traditional roles as providers for their families, that addresses their loss of dignity and “manhood,” and finally, their loss of control and authority over their women.

What is truly frightening is that Professor Gordon teaches courses in Mideast women's affairs. Linking to the WCLAC website certainly gives the impression that Ms. Gordon and others are teaching this nonssense to their students.
Why is it that the "Palestinians" are never to be held accountable for their own actions by these loons? Oh, right, it's the fault of the Jews Zionists.

Wow, does this mean that because I support Israel, I am an enabler?

Guilty by association, counselor!

You know what? I'm feeling more powerful by the moement. I mean, without even walking into someone's house, without ever seeing them, we can cause them to do something. Pretty cool.

Do we get credit for the weather? I am pretty certain we were blamed for the Tsunami.

Really, isn't it like, all our fault?

Ona more serious note, what the good professor is actually saying is that sometimes there is an excuse for spousal abuse.

Rachel Ann is correct--and how telling that a "feminist studies" professor (who are usually the first to condemn any case of spousal abuse) is willing to give those abusers a pass because it's more important to Gordon to have yet another way of expressing her anti-semitism.

Not all that surprising - we had a muslim site hear singing the same tune. Of course PC type people said it wasn't indicative of Islam :-/

What total drivel! Reminds me of the “Flip Wilson” show … “the devil made me do it.” Why blame yourself when you can blame somebody else!

hi just popped in to say... um... hi.

I'm not sure how you found me or my blog today. I wrote something in praise of the Jewish intellectual tradition - saying it was the most valuable thing we have in our libraries after the Greeks'. Now I'm wondering if that comment didn't somehow get filtered straight to you or something.

Fuck, I'm glad I wrote something positive and kicked a bit of dreck in ant-semites' dumb-ass faces.

(is that an acceptable use of the word dreck?)

rock on people
