Take II

Published by Linda under Psych...

I’ve left the Happy Holidays post at the top for the last couple of days, but there has been an interesting development on one of the Cruise posts lately that has a few of us hopping behind the scenes.

Check it out.

Happy Christmanukkah

Very seldom do the two holidays overlap. This year is one of those years.

The title was reference of both those holidays crossing paths, but it really should read…

Rebuttal

Published by Mark under Politics

Linda takes Bush to task (not without reason, mind), and CNN states that

President Bush took responsibility Wednesday for “wrong” intelligence that led to the war, but he said removing Saddam Hussein was still necessary.

This is exactly what I’ve been saying all along. Saddam was a threat and his ouster was long past due. The reasons are legion, and I won’t belabor them here.

As far as not trusting the US because of Bush: I don’t trust France, Germany or Russia as far as I can throw them, or most of the rest of the Useless Nations member countries, and I will be G-ddamned if I trust any Muslim theocracy for one minute.

Any country who chooses to base their entire opinion of us on one president (and not the other 42 and a 200 year track record of global philanthropy) can go straight to hell, as far as I’m concerned.

Signal to the World

Published by Linda under News, Politics

Regarding pulling out of Iraq, from President Bush’s Oval Office address last night,

We would abandon our Iraqi friends — and signal to the world that America cannot be trusted to keep its word.

Our word to be trusted is long gone in this one President Bush. You yourself admitted just last week that we went to war on faulty intelligence. Do you really think they, the rest of the world, trust us so much after that? You might have won back voters who appreciate your candor, but the rest of the world is watching and will question your future decisions more than ever. They will scrutinize you more than you will scrutinize intelligence. Tread lightly.

Disappointed

Published by Linda under Entertainment

Joe and I watch each and every Apprentice show. We look forward to the finale as if we’ve been through the whole process ourselves. Last night was no exception.

My favorite was Rebecca and Joe’s was Randal. However, I’ll admit that I knew Randal would win. Seriously, all you have to do is look at his detailed education to see that this guy was going to win. But he also appeared to have heart. He had a gentle leading style and wasn’t terribly alpha male like you would expect from someone of his education caliber. At least not until the very end.

Let me say that I think that both of them underperformed for the tasks they had. It was probably the most boring end-of-season tasks I had ever seen, when both tasks had the capacity to be really amazing. While I think both of them are good leaders, I don’t think either one of them were particularly creative. They don’t have to be, mind you. However, both tasks probably would have benefited from more creativity.

Randal was, indeed, the winner. He was ecstatic and it was exciting to see him win. At the very end he was asked what he thought about Rebecca. He praised her. It was heartening. Then, Trump asked Randal, “If you were me, would you hire Rebecca.” Randal said, “There should only be one Apprentice.” He continued, “It’s not The Apprenti.”

I know that he worked hard to get there and that it’s difficult to share that spot with someone else. But he had the opportunity to show heart and instead shot down someone he just praised. All I have to say about him is that if he thought so little of her to not hire her, than he needs to look at the fact that he ended up with her at the end and that her abilities are a bit more telling about his than he thinks. Also telling is the fact that Trump hadn’t yet made up his mind going into the finale. If he were that much better, there would be no grey area, just one clear choice. In other words, if he thinks he is in a different league than Rebecca…um…not so much.
